After a long history with joy con 1 shell swaps I’m very happy to see that these shells were factory perfect. With joy con 1 early release shells there were often slight burrs or other defects but those issues were not present in the three sets of shells I purchased for the joy con 2. The instructional video was excellent, and made this replacement process very smooth. I highly recommend this modification to anyone with a fair bit of experience with shell swaps. For my photos: I opted to stick with OEM buttons, for the d pad I used a Wii U gamepad d pad after trimming it to fit and work in a Joy Con, and lastly I swapped the right stick from one set of joy con for the left in the other so I have matching pairs (the offset look was never appealing to me). All of these changes work perfectly well.
Hello friend,
We’re really glad to hear that you had such a smooth experience with the Joy-Con 2 shells! It’s great to know that you noticed the improvements over the earlier versions and that the video guide helped make the process easier. Your custom setup sounds awesome — especially using the Wii U D-pad and matching stick layout. Thanks a lot for sharing your build and for recommending it to other modders!
